Sunday Tarot - 10.08.2023
Hello, my love. Happy Sunday.
Before we get into this week’s tarot draw, I wanted to note that my Wednesday and Friday publishing plans were foiled by a fight with COVID. I am recovered, and will go back to my schedule this week, but I regret the timing of my absence so close to the launch, and on my birthday, which I was planning to write something for you about. Please forgive me and take care - it’s still out there, get boosted if you can.
This week I drew the Nine of Seeds - another name for the nine of pentacles in a traditional deck. (I am still using the Future Ancestor Tarot by Lexa Luna Studio.)
One of the most frustrating elements of being human is our inability to appreciate the splendor of the world around us, the comforts we have earned or created, the beauty of being and experiencing our lives in the moments where it is at its best. We notice how cold it gets when the heater is broken and not how warm it is when everything is working as it should. We get lost in remembering how things used to be or wondering how things will be in the future and can find ourselves just waiting for the present to pass.
This week, this card encourages you to glory in the present, in the beauties that can be found in this moment that you have made for yourself. If you’re like me, there are many things in your life - good and bad - that may feel like the work of others, or a past version of yourself you’d rather evict. Try not to worry about those things for the time being. How do you take care of yourself, make room for yourself in your schedule? Do you make sure your favorite mug is waiting for you every morning? Do you take the long way home to finish a podcast episode after work? Do you get yourself a little treat at the grocery store to thank yourself for going out to get what you need? These gestures, no matter how small, are vital acts of love and they should be celebrated.
I hope that this week, when you find yourself enjoying a moment in time, a space in your home, a deep belly laugh, or even a bite of food that you made, that you take the time to really savor its goodness, and to savor the goodness in you that created it. Please write to me if you do, I’d love to hear all about it.
With love,
Sammi
